Janet began her career as a dog trainer in the summer of 2001. She attended North State K9 Academy and received her certification as a Master Trainer, certified in Professional Obedience Training, Behavior Modification, and Search & Rescue Training. Janet then ran her own training business for two years. In December of 2003 she joined the staff of Tarheel Canine Training, Inc. where she runs the pet dog training program and assists in the instruction of students attending the North State K9 Academy obedience program. In 2005 Janet certified as a police K9 Instructor with North State K9 Academy and assumed the Head Trainer position at Tarheel Canine, where she trains police K9s for Dual Purpose, Narcotics Detection, Explosives Detection, SAR, and Cadaver Recovery, and oversees the instruction of K9 handlers attending Tarheel Canine’s Police K9 handler courses. Janet has been a handler on K9 Cadaver searches for the SPD, and has done K9 demos for school children on SAR work throughout NC.
