Police k9 trainer / instructor
Tarheel Canine, an industry leader in Police K9 Training located in Sanford, NC, is seeking a motivated entry-level trainer/instructor to join our team.
Responsibilities

Prepare police dogs in tracking, detection, obedience, and controlled aggression

Conduct daily lectures and group training sessions

Perform decoy work and hands-on training with high-drive working dogs
Requirements

Experience handling/training working dogs in tracking, detection, obedience, and aggression

Ability to perform decoy work

Strong communication skills (written & spoken)

Leadership ability and computer skills

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, adaptive environment

Responsibilities:
- Ensure the day-to-day care of pet dogs and working dogs, including feeding, watering, cleaning, walking, bathing, and monitoring their well-being.
- Exhibit sufficient physical strength, mobility, and stamina to handle heavy dogs and objects, along with the dexterity and confidence to administer medications.
- Maintain a keen eye for a dog’s behavior, recognizing signs of stress and changes in eating or elimination habits.
- Demonstrate meticulous record-keeping and accurate completion of medical documentation.
- Adhere to proper feeding and sanitation procedures with unwavering attention to detail.
- Display a genuine desire to learn and provide gentle, compassionate care to the dogs entrusted to us.
- Follow directions effectively, both with and without supervision.
- Flexibility is essential, as availability on weekends, days, nights, and holidays is required.
