Prior to coming to North State K-9 Academy, I did extensive research on becoming a dog trainer. The most important thing I learned is that you need confidence. You can only get that by actually training dogs not standing in a class of 20 students and watch someone else. Jerry and Sandra have the confidence to allow you to work with their client’s dogs, and you leave with the confidence to train for your own clients. I can’t even begin to explain how much I learned in my 8 weeks there. It is incredible really! I now run my own training facility. I consult with two local Police Departments on strays and aggression/bite cases, and I am also the main decoy for two schutzhund clubs in my area.
