K9 Handler (Police K9 Decoy Seminar) – Gwinnett County, GA

Jerry,

I wanted to take some time to type a review for the decoy class that was in
Charlotte this past week.

First of all, I want to say that the class was great. Overall, I learned
some things that I will be able to use in my career going forward.

I really liked the calm demeanor with the problem solving techniques. For
example, the Greensboro Shepard that wouldn’t out the sleeve when it was
slipped to him- The handler was trying to choke the dog off of the sleeve
and you were able to bring another sleeve and within a few seconds have the
dog out the sleeve. That was great. I liked the fact that problems were not
a big deal, for example; a dog not outing, recalling, etc. Everything was
worked with and there was no yelling, no screaming, and no frustration. I’ve
experienced all of the above in my K9 career and it was nice to see your
approach of things. I also liked how you explained the different drives in
the dog, and how they operate differently under each. We all know how dogs
act, but actually having someone explain how and why was great, thanks for
that.
